28 Runs in 2 Games!

It appears that swinging the bat is not a problem for the Boston Red Sox.  Last night, the Red Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers 14-1, the night before, the Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 14-2.

What’s going on?  Are the Sox that good or did they run into 2 struggling squads back to back?

No complaints either way! The Boston Red Sox have moved into a tie for first place in the AL East with the New York Yankees.  The Yankees have a slightly better winning percentage because they have played 2 fewer games but the Red Sox look to keep up their winning ways and claim 1st spot to themselves.

Last night’s win for the Sox also brought their road record to .500!  Now they have a winning home record and a winning road record.  Keep it up boys!

It’s actually humorous to look at the standings for the AL Central right now.  The top two teams in the AL Central both show their last game as a loss to Boston giving up 14 runs…

Standings Finally Shaping Up For AL East

It took some time, but the AL East is somewhat organized how it usually is at this time of the year…. The Red Sox and Yankees battling for the lead, Toronto and Tampa battling for 3rd/4th and the Orioles looking up at everyone else.

The Red Sox are half a game behind the Yankees and things are looking promising.  They are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now.  In their last 10 games, they are 8-2 (tied for best with 4 other teams).  Adrian Gonzalez is one of the hottest hitters right now (.340 batting average and 43 RBIs) and they had 20 hits in a 14 – 2 win over the Cleveland Indians last night.  Jacoby Ellsbury has also been great in terms of production with stolen bases, runs scored and obp.

Things are clicking for the Sox and it’s about time.  The Sox are on the road right now heading to Detroit for a 4 game series.  Next month, they have a few important series with the Blue Jays, Yankees and Rays!  A lot of moves in the standings are up for grabs.

If you haven’t been to a game yet, you should get some tickets… Boston Red Sox Tickets.

Red Sox Enjoy Above .500 Feeling

The Red Sox are 1.5 games behind the #1 spot, .5 games behind the Yankees for the 2nd spot, 1.0 game ahead of Toronto and 1.5 games above .500.  4 out of 5 teams in the AL East are above .500 (have a winning record).

The Red Sox have hit another hot streak.  Let’s see how long this one lasts.  They have a 6 game winning streak and they are 8-2 in their last 10 games.  That is better than any other team in the MLB in the past 10 games.  The Red Sox also have the longest current win streak (6 games) and the next closest team is St. Louis (4 games).

The Sox have a winning record at home (14 – 9) and a loosing record on the road (9-11) but that appears to be changing.  The Red Sox start a series with the Chicago Cubs now.  The Cubs haven’t played in Boston since the 1918 World Series…

Report: Red Sox contact Bengie Molina

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox have made contact
with free agent Bengie Molina but are not ready to move on him yet.

It’s
anyone’s guess as to what kind of shape Molina is in these days, but he
could be appealing with Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jason Varitek
combining to hit .179/.246/.241 in 123 plate appearances this season.
Ivan Rodriguez has also been a name floated as a possibility for the
Sox, but Rosenthal says Boston is “cool” on him. Regardless of who the
target ends up being, it’s become pretty clear that the Sox will seek to
upgrade behind the plate before the trade deadline. Source:

The sooner the scrap the Saltalamessia experiment, the better.

Molina, if he is in good playing shape cannot be any worse than Saltymess.

I-Rod, even being past his prime cannot hurt. At least he can call a game.

Either
one might need a get in shape assignment in AAA for a few games. Just
get something done soon, get them in shape & get Saltymess out of
here.

I don’t know about Molina, anyway I trust more Salty now than Tek. Salty
could get better, while Varitek is pretty much finished. Quite similar
to Wake, great history with RS but not too much good input in the
present.

Is Terry Francona on the Hot Seat?

It might be hard to believe, but it’s true. Francona is a good guy
and he has done a great job as the Red Sox manager. But now he is on the hot seat.

This
team was predicted to win it all. Even the Sox players themselves
acknowledge they have the talent to win 100 or more games this year, yes 100+.

But
we’ve been in last place a lot, and there are 20+ teams with better records
in baseball than the Red Sox. This is unacceptable. The team had a poor spring training and nothing seemed to kick start the team when the season started.

Terry Francona is now on the hot seat. If this talented
team continues this pathetic play, then it would be a dereliction f duty
by the ownership not to make a managerial change.

With the talent on the team, they still have the ability to win 100 games, but it will be very difficult and they better kick it on soon!  Francona better hope so too!
