According to ESPN Boston, the Boston Red Sox have signed Tony Pena Jr. to a minor league deal. Pena is a reliever and can potentially add some talented depth to the bullpen somewhere down the line.

Pena was also given an invitation to spring training where he can really show his potential. Pena is 29 now and was a short stop for the Braves and Royals. While on the Royals, Pena was converted to a relief pitcher.

Pena did very well in AA Richmond, but struggled in AAA Fresno.

We hope that we see some significant improvements or at least another back up short stop 😉
